Asian American Life
88Rising approached me to create a library of images that captured the small, everyday details of growing up Asian in America. The project felt personal, as it reflected experiences that were familiar to me and many others. Rather than staging moments in a studio, I reached out to family and friends across Southern California, choosing to document scenes that felt natural and true to our lives.
The images focused on familiar moments—shared meals, late-night mischeif, family members, and familiar places. I wanted to keep the visuals honest and reflective, allowing the details to speak for themselves. Through this approach, the project became a collection of vignettes that subtly express the complexity of our lives.
